About Me
If I wanted to sound all dramatic, I’d say, “Writing is as essential to me as breathing!” But really, it’s more like scratching an itch. I just have to do it. It makes me feel better. It’s like a friend. Or a therapist.
I have lots of great material. My main goal these days is helping my two little girls survive their childhood. I try my best to keep them fed and watered, and make sure they play nice with others. Oh how I wish there was a “motherhood manual,” I could turn to. But I have to say, raising these two beautiful creatures is the best fun I’ve ever had. Both my kids make me smile every day until my face hurts.
My parents are in their 80s. My dad lives in a nursing home in my town and has Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. I spend a great deal of time with him and it fills me with many different emotions. There is a great role reversal between us, as I have gradually become more like a parent to him. It can get very hard. But there is humor there, too. I often need to write about it. Then I feel so much better.
Sure, life can get pretty complicated sometimes. But that’s okay. Each day is a gift. And to be honest, I wouldn’t change a thing.
