12 Things You Didn’t Know About the Property Brothers
Who Are the Property Brothers?
Jonathan and Drew Scott, also known as HGTV’s Property Brothers, help bring dream homes to life. Drew finds reasonably-priced homes out on the market and Jonathan transforms that house from drab to totally fab with his renovation skills.
But there’s more than what meets the eye with these two. Learn more about who the brothers are behind the camera.
They Were Born and Raised in Canada
While the Property Brothers are wildly popular in the United States, the pair was born in Vancouver, Canada. They grew up living and working on their family ranch and attended the University of Calgary together for college. It wasn’t until 2010 that the brothers decided to move to Las Vegas, Nevada together. They both currently live in Los Angeles with their significant others.

They Have Another Brother
Surprise! There’s a third Property Brother. J.D. Scott, the eldest of the Scott siblings, is two years older than Jonathan and Drew. And he isn’t camera shy. J.D. is the host of both Property Brothers: At Home and Brother Vs. Brother, two of Jonathan and Drew’s projects.
Jonathan and Zooey Deschanel are Dating… and Building Their Dream Home Together
Jonathan and actress Zoey Deschanel started dating back in 2019. They met while filming “Carpool Karaoke” on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Flash forward to today where things have gotten pretty serious between the two love birds. At the end of 2021, they announced that they are currently renovating their dream home together in Los Angeles (and I’m sure they’re following these Property Brothers design tips).
Drew and His Wife are Expecting
Drew Scott and his wife Linda Phan are expecting a baby in May! Drew and Linda have been married for over four years now and are ready to start their next chapter together and we couldn’t be more excited for them.
The Brothers Have Seven Different TV Shows
While they’re most famous for their debut on Property Brothers, Jonathan and Drew have six other TV shows: Property Brothers Forever Home, Brother vs. Brother, Property Brothers: At Home, Property Brothers: At Home on the Ranch, Property Brothers Take on New Orleans and Property Brothers: At Home: Drew’s Honeymoon House. And I’m sure this is just the start.
They Have Two Brands
Drew and Jonathan Home and Scott Living are two of their home furnishing lines. You can shop their products at multiple major retailers like Wayfair, Amazon, Kohl’s and Home Depot. Find out more places where you can buy Jonathan and Drew’s products.
They Can Act…
Did you know the brothers started out as actors? We had no idea! Jonathan has appeared on shows like The X-Files and Atomic Train. Drew has snagged over 20 roles on shows like Smallville and continued acting until 2014 with his appearance on The Christmas Parade. They’ve even acted side-by-side in a few film projects like The Oracle and Breaker High.
…and Sing
The brothers can really do it all. In 2016, they released the country ballad “Hold On” and wowed their fans with their impressive singing skills. Quickly after they dropped an upbeat party song called “Let the Night Shine In.” In recent years, the brothers have released song covers and even branched out individually to produce songs like “You Chose Me” (Drew’s love song to his wife) and “Being Honest” (a song Jonathan created for his PBS documentary, Jonathan Scott’s Power Trip).
Their First Renovation Wasn’t on Screen
At just 18 years old, Jonathan and Drew bought and flipped their first home. They even earned a mean $50,000 profit once it sold. Their love of home improvement only blossomed from there. Flash forward to today where they have renovated over 150 homes!

Drew is Gluten-Free
While Drew isn’t allergic, he follows a gluten-free diet because he’s fairly gluten sensitive. He cut out gluten products because it makes him feel better. He explained to Real Style Network, “I find my body functions better and it breaks down food better if I don’t do gluten.”
Jonathan is Vegetarian
Drew isn’t the only brother on a special diet. Jonathan recently shared that he and Zooey are vegetarian eaters. We expect they’ll be making many yummy vegetarian recipes in their newly-renovated home.
Drew Was a Surprise Baby
We can’t imagine Jonathan without Drew and Drew without Jonathan, but their parents were definitely surprised when Drew was born just a few short moments after Jonathan was. Jim and Joanna Scott didn’t know they were having twins until delivery day!
