In honor of its 100th anniversary, Torani is gifting us the "Flavor of the Century."
This Major Brand Just Revealed Its ‘Flavor of the Century’
I love a good best “something” of the year roundup. I also love reading up on the top flavor trends for the year ahead. Needless to say, when I heard about a “Flavor of the Century,” my ears really perked up. What does that even mean?!
The flavored syrup brand Torani will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2025. To mark this milestone, it scrapped the usual “Flavor of the Year” promo in favor of the “Flavor of the Century.” A week before the reveal, Torani sent me a series of mini jigsaw puzzles hinting at the mystery flavor. Every few days, I’d complete a new puzzle and get a new clue.
By the end of the week, I still didn’t know what the flavor could be—but I was at the edge of my seat waiting to find out.
What is the ‘Flavor of the Century’?
The Flavor of the Century will add sparkle to your cold brew, matcha, energy drink or refresher because it is…diamond!
Um, diamond? My initial thought was, what does a diamond taste like? But I quickly came around to the idea that something this big couldn’t be a salted caramel or a yuzu. How could it be? And if you know that the 100-year anniversary gemstone is a diamond, then this fantasy flavor feels even more appropriate.
What does ‘diamond’ taste like?
The flavor profile of “diamond” is sparkling wine and vanilla, with a little fruitiness. “Since diamonds themselves have no taste, we’ve shined and polished our flavor expertise to bring to life the elegance and allure of diamonds in every sip,” Torani said in a press release.
My first whiff reminded me of gummy worms. The first taste had that same fruitiness but with more brightness. Smelling it again, I got a wave of vanilla. Once I added my coffee and half-and-half, I enjoyed the subtle vanilla and fruity notes that played in the background of each sip.
In the afternoon, I splashed some diamond syrup in a glass of sparkling water for a little refresher. The combination of tangerine sparkling water with the syrup’s classic vanilla notes tasted like a refreshing creamsicle. It was pleasantly delicious.
Honestly, I’m on board with this flavor of the century. It adds brightness and a comforting dose of vanilla to all it touches. And I think we could all use a little extra sparkle in our lives this century.
