Ingredients for Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders

  • Hawaiian sweet rolls: Mini sweet rolls are soft, tender and perfect for stuffing with a savory burger fill.
  • Cheese: This recipe calls for American or cheddar cheese slices; feel free to switch this up, or choose both!
  • Ground beef: Either a lean cut or a regular cut of ground beef is fine with these ingredients.
  • Onion: You’ll cook this together to give the beef a boost in savory flavor.
  • Diced tomatoes: A can of diced tomatoes with garlic and onion is the tastiest option.
  • Dijon mustard: You’ll need some additional mustard for making the glaze.
  • Worcestershire sauce: Use this for flavoring the burgers as well as for making the glaze.
  • Bacon: Applewood smoked bacon is a lovely addition to the flavors already present in this recipe.
  • Glaze: To make the glaze, use butter, brown sugar, additional Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard together to drizzle or brush across the top of the buns, before sprinkling with sesame seeds and baking.

Step 1: Prepare the rolls

Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 13×9-inch baking pans. Without separating rolls, cut each package of rolls horizontally in half; arrange bottom halves in baking pans. In each pan, place five slices of cheese on bottom halves of rolls. Bake until cheese is melted, about three to five minutes.

Step 2: Cook the beef

In a large skillet, add beef and onion together and cook over medium heat until beef is no longer pink and onion is tender, breaking beef into crumbles, six to eight minutes; drain. Stir in tomatoes, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Continue to cook until ingredients are combined, about an additional one to two minutes.

Step 3: Fill the rolls

Bacon Cheeseburger Slider Variations

  • Swap meat: If you’d prefer a lighter meat, swap the beef for ground chicken or turkey. Additionally, you can use mushrooms and black beans in place of the burger if you’d prefer a meatless option.
  • Add toppings: Favorite slider toppings include pickles, banana peppers and green peppers. Sliced tomatoes are tasty, too.

How to Store Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders

If you have any leftovers to store, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge. Another option is to store them tightly wrapped in aluminum foil. They’ll last in the fridge this way for three to four days.

How do you reheat bacon cheeseburger sliders?

Reheat leftovers still wrapped in aluminum foil by heating the oven to 350° and warming for 15 to 20 minutes. You can also warm them on a skillet with melted butter on the bottom of the pan, and a lid on top to keep the sliders from becoming too crispy, keeping the heat low.

Bacon Cheeseburger Slider Tips

What’s the difference between a slider and a burger?

Sliders are mini versions of burgers, or another protein, served on smaller buns. Burgers are usually a serving for one on a hamburger bun. Sliders may have gotten their name by the way they slide across the griddle or because they’re so small and eaten so quickly that they basically slide down your throat! Can I prepare these sliders in advance?

If you’re prepping for a party, you can definitely prep these ahead of time – just save the assembly for later. The beef mixture can be made and stored in the refrigerator ahead of time. Just assemble, glaze and bake the day of your event. You may need 5 to 10 minutes more baking time to take the chill off.

What can I serve with sliders besides fries?

Fries are a delicious side dish, but there’s so much more to serve alongside these bacon cheeseburger sliders with Hawaiian rolls. Some favorites include mac and cheese, creamy mashed potatoes or a tasty, colorful corn salad.
